About Us
When I learned how to crochet, I decided to take on the daunting task of crocheting a full blanket for my then-boyfriend, Matthew. As I sat in the green chair in my parents’ living room crocheting away, my dear grandmother glanced up at me from her book. I had been working on this blanket for days, sometimes having to pull out hours worth of stitches to fix a mistake. She smiled and said “You know what, Alexandra? That’s a real labor of love.”
A year later, I made Matthew a scrapbook for Christmas. My grandmother was once again visiting and when she saw the final project, she chuckled and said “That’s a real labor of love, sweetheart.” (She then added that he’d better like it- or else). Ever since then, the phrase “labor of love” has stuck with me. I love giving meaningful gifts, and a gift that I took time to make is so much better to me than one I purchase from the store.
As a soon-to-be wife, I knew I wanted the cute signs and decorations one can find lining the wedding aisles of Hobby Lobby and Michael's. However, the wedding was already becoming expensive and the signs were way overpriced. I took to my Cricut and made them myself! I fully realized how expensive the wedding market is, and I wanted to create a store where brides-to-be, their bridesmaids, and just regular people could come for meaningful and affordable gifts.
So, welcome to Labor of Love!
